The cemented carbide rods are carbide rods, also called tungsten carbide rods.
Cemented carbide is a composite material composed of the refractory metal compound (hard phase) and binder metal (bonding phase) produced by powder metallurgy. With high hardness, high wear resistance, high toughness, high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, etc., The cemented carbide rod is widely used in metal cutting and mechanical wear resistance.
The sizes of the cemented carbide rods
In response to market demand, the diameter of conventional cemented carbide rods on the market is 2.0mm-32.0mm. The most regular lengths are 50mm, 60mm, 75mm, 80mm, 100mm, 150mm, 200mm, 300mm, 330mm. With the upgrading of carbide rods’ production technology and the expansion of the application field of carbide rods, the current cemented carbide rods have appeared in miniature sizes such as 0.1mm, 0.2mm, and 0.5mm, and the length is no longer limited to 330mm. The grades of the cemented carbide rods
There are many types of cemented carbide grades. According to the different bonding metals, we roughly divide cemented carbide grades into two categories.
One is the cobalt-containing grades, including but not limited to YG6,YG8,YG10,YL10.2,YG15,YG20,XU108,XU30,YH6F,XF20S,XF20T,XL10
Another type is non-magnetic grades, including but not limited to YN3, YN6, YN7, YN9, YN15, YN20.

The kinds of the cemented carbide rods
Cemented carbide rods are mainly divided into Solid Carbide rods, Carbide rods with the coolant hole, and other Non-standard carbide rods, three types.
Solid carbide rods are as pictured below, is carbide rods without any holes, grooves.
Carbide rods with the coolant holes contains straight hole round rods and spiral hole round rods
Tungsten carbide rods with traight coolant holes are mainly using in making cutting tools. According to the quantity of the holes, the cemented carbide rods are divided into one hole carbide rods, double coolant holes carbide rods, and multi holes tungsten carbide rods.
Tungsten carbide rods with spiral coolant holes are similar to the straight-hole carbide rods, which is also applicable in making different cutting tools such as endmills and drills. But the coolant holes are not straight but in a spiral shape. The most regular type is double spiral holes tungsten carbide rods and three spiral/helix holes carbide rods.
Other Non-standard carbide rods
